Terms of service
The ground rules, in plain language
What the service does, what you allow us, what you’re buying — and what happens to your child’s photo.
1. The service
Kids Stories creates personalised, illustrated stories for children, based on the information in the child profile you set up. The standard deliverable is a digital file (PDF); a printed book is available as an option through a print-on-demand partner.
2. Your account
The service is for adults only. You are responsible for keeping your login confidential and for all actions taken from your account. The child profile information (first name, preferences) must be accurate — it determines the quality of the story.
3. Parental review — non-negotiable
Stories are generated by AI, then filtered by our safety system. Before handing a story to your child, you review it in full — the journey requires it before any export. You remain the final filter: if a page feels wrong, don’t gift it — report it instead; a regeneration is possible.
4. Your child’s photo — image rights
You may optionally provide a photo of your child to personalise their illustrations. By ticking the dedicated box, you certify:
- to hold parental authority over this child, or to have the written permission of those who do (Article 9 of the French Civil Code — a minor’s image cannot be used without that consent);
- that your child is involved in this choice in a way suited to their age;
- that the photo genuinely shows your child and complies with the law.
What you allow us — and nothing more. To analyse the photo and extract general traits (hair colour and style, glasses, skin tone…) that guide illustrations drawn in a cartoon style. The photo is never published, sold, shared or used to identify your child — and it never appears in the stories produced.
Withdrawal. You can remove the photo or your permission at any time from the profile — the photo and its extracted traits are then deleted (see privacy policy).
5. Your stories — your usage rights
The generated, paid-for story is delivered to you for personal and family use: read it, gift it, print it at home or through our print option. Any commercial use (resale, for-profit publication) is excluded without prior written agreement. The platform, its brand and its code remain the publisher’s property.
6. Orders, pricing, payment
Prices are shown in euros, all taxes included, before any confirmation. Payment is processed by Stripe — your bank details never pass through our servers. The order is final once payment is confirmed.
7. Delivery and withdrawal
PDF. The digital file is available immediately after payment. In accordance with Article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code, you expressly waive your right of withdrawal for this digital content supplied without delay.
Printing. The printed book is made to order by a third-party provider; delivery times are indicative. As a fully personalised product, it is excluded from the right of withdrawal (Article L221-28 3° of the French Consumer Code). For any printing or delivery defect, contact us: bonjour@kidstories.app.
8. Prohibited content
Any submitted content (text, photo) that is clearly unlawful, inappropriate for a child, or infringes third-party rights is refused by our moderation — with no right to regeneration or refund in cases of clear abuse.
9. Liability
The service is provided on a best-efforts basis. The artistic rendering of the illustrations — including any caricatural likeness — is approximate by nature and is not a guaranteed result. Our liability cannot exceed the amount of the order concerned.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution is sought first via bonjour@kidstories.app. You may also contact the relevant consumer mediator and, failing agreement, the competent courts. For any dispute concerning your data, see the privacy policy.
Last updated: October 2026. You’ll be notified of any change to these terms before it takes effect.
